Refresh Blog Updates Themes & Pages Tutorials Resources Help Desk
XXXIV - Abyss

First, thanks for all the positive feedback on the new theme! No one’s found any errors yet, so hopefully it stays that way. Will finish updating the side pages this week. And here’s my first chance to properly show off the new theme posts!

A new theme to share! This one is actually super, super simple and was originally created for the Theme Hunter Contest. The main feature is the drop down lists so you can now add loads of links even where there’s a fixed (or in this case, sticky) sidebar.
Please save and refresh the customize page before making any customizations/change. This will hopefully lower the number of problems. Feel free to customize however much you want, the more the better, but leave credits intact. It would also be great if you could ‘like’ this post if using the theme. Please use Disqus to report any problems (you can comment as a guest).

This is actually a really old theme (using my old coding method/layout) that was a giveaway and originally used at i-roleplay.
It is important you read the post in the live preview to understand how to get the semi-transparent sidebar. Instructions are there to help.

Customize Options

You can change all the basics including fonts, size, colours, images and links.

Background Image: No set width or height, the background image will stretch across the screen whatever the size. To accommodate most screens I would suggest going for something at least 1600px wide.

Sidebar: Far left sidebar, set to 25% of the screen width (but no smaller than 300px). The background colour of the sidebar is determined through a RGBA value, rather than HEX value. You will have to enter it yourself through the theme options. Once you know what colour you want use this converter. Copy the three numbers (but do not include brackets) under “RGB for CSS”. For example, it will look like this “rgb(250, 250, 250)”. You only need to paste “250,250,250” in the text field.

Sidebar Image: There is also an optional sidebar image, automatically resized to 180px (width). Toogle between External or Internal upload options (explained here).

Popup Navigation: Apart from the basic links, you can add another four links on the main page. On the “Link List” you can add up to 24 more links.

Posts: All post types are supported and there is an option to choose between 400px or 500px posts. Please make sure you toogle only one of these options. Like and Reblog buttons are included when posts are hovered over.

So this is basically the theme I have right now on this blog. Overall it’s very simple and though I’ve only included four links, depending on what layout you have, there is enough space to add more. As always if you come across any coding errors please tell me.

XXXI - LIMIT BREAK!

First theme of 2014! I’ve also now made more “new” themes, than I have “retired” themes. This is actually one that’s been in my drafts for sometime as it was originally created for a friend’s roleplay but it is not needed now. There are quite a few options to play around with but I’ve tried to make it as easy to use as possible.

XXX - MEDIA PAGE 2014

I know I’m slightly late but Happy New Year! So following the last two years, here’s a new film table/media page for 2014. I’m also trying Google as a new way to share codes. Just hover over the version you would like and an arrow will appear, choose to ‘View’ (or download if you prefer to mess with the codes first).
Please note there are three slightly different versions, so please make sure you download the right codes for the one you want. Version #1 is the ‘original’ version. It has three sections, one each for films, books and TV shows. Version #2 is an edited version so that instead of three sections for different types of media it can be used as a multi-purpose page. The three sections includes one for overall media, an about page and a space for tags. Version #3, is the simple, no frills version of just the media section.
You don’t need to worry about image sizes and positioning. I’ve coded it so that they will automatically resize; film posters and book covers will resize to 110px, screencaps will be 245px wide. The alternative images on either side are also coded so you do not need to wrong about that.
As always, please read through the help page first, if you need assistance with customizing the page. I have tried to add comments in the code in which will help, but there is alot of code, so work slowly. I have also noticed that the tumblr live preview when customizing pages, doesn’t seem to like the way I code. So things will probably look a little messed up in the preview - but just save it and it should look fine on the actual blog.

If you have a look at the codes you will notice that in the ratings space instead of “stars” you’ll see “e” and “f” instead. The “e” is the equivalent of a gold-ish coloured star, and “f” is an empty star. If you have no idea what I just explained… just delete the e’s and f’s and use HTML stars. >Credits

XXIX - SCRAPBOOK 2013 (VERSION 2)

So as promised, first thing is the current scrapbook page I’m using. As I’ve mentioned before it’s based very much on the original version’s coding; just with a simpler look.
The sidebar and sorting function is exactly the same and it still uses the same icon font for the ratings (please read the original help page for more details on that).
For those who have time or want to, you can add even more categories and keep track of more things (maybe albums, musicals, concerts even blog layouts) and hopefully at the end of the year we can all see where we all wasted our time.

Another of the unreleased themes. I was on the fence about sharing this one because there is no sidebar image or space for description (which makes it a bit useless for the typical fandom blog) but thought it could maybe be useful to text/writing blogs, hopefully.

XXVII - AN UNLIKELY GUEST

Another of the unreleased themes. I was on the fence about sharing this one because there is no sidebar image or space for description (which makes it a bit useless for the typical fandom blog) but thought it could maybe be useful to text/writing blogs, hopefully.

Please save and refresh the customize page before making any customizations/change. This will hopefully lower the number of problems. Feel free to customize however much you want, the more the better, but leave credits intact. It would also be great if you could ‘like’ this post if using the theme.

XXIV - CURRENTLY WATCHING #2 PAGE

So here’s a newer, cleaner and hopefully easier to use version of my previous currently watching page. This version uses the plugin, Isotope, rather than just CSS and you can choose to use or not to images. It can also double up as a tags page if you want (empty links already added). I have also included a greyscale option, so only when you hover on images, the colours pop out.
I have also included a very customized example of this page from my own blog (it doubles up as my TV schedule) and will not be releasing this version because a) there’s so much extra coding it’ll be be hard to make customizable and b) it requires intermediate knowledge on HTML/CSS/Isotope.

In my live previews I use screencaps that are 200x112px.

How To Add More Shows: This is not formatted like a table so there are no columns and rows and no need to stick to a structure.
You may notice the way a show is changed from “Current” to “Hiatus” to “Complete” is by the first line of code in each show: <div class=”stylewrap hiatus”> - you just have to change the world ater “stylewrap” to either “current”, “hiatus” or “complete” to change the status of each show.
For those who are having difficulty with this method, everytime you want to add a new show just copy/paste the code and keep adding to the list.

Four Layouts in One: There are four different layouts included: Horizontal, Grid and Single Column (which has a choice between 400px or 500px). Please make sure you’ve only toggled one of these of it will mess with the layout.

Horizontal Layout: There is maximum height set for posts, so anything exceeding that will become scrollable. There is also no description visible in this option.
Grid Layout: There is an additional place for the description with option for Links 7 to 9.
Single Column Layout: There is an additional place for the description with option for Links 7 to 9.

Slide Down Header Content: There are two different header options “Header With Textbox” or “Header With Navigation” so please make sure only one of these are checked or it may mess with the theme. Header With Textbox comes with two empty Text Widgets. The askbox you see in the live preview for “Horizontal” is not included. Header With Navigation option comes with the space to add up to 24 extra links, separated by three groups. You can change the text of “Slide Open Topbar” under Appearance Options.

Lazyload Images: A lazy load option (images) is available, however, it does not work with the grid layout.

Posts: All post types are supported and there is an option to choose between 400px or 500px posts (Single Column Only).

So this is the theme I have at my personal blog right now. Again this another theme that is based on the idea of text-heavy blogs. How The Theme Works:
a) Viewing posts when directed through a link. For example, here is the link to this post so you can see it. Try for yourself by going to the archive and click on any entry - you will be shown the original post.
b) Searching through the tags and find posts. The other way to gain access to posts is through the tags. Again you can try it yourself by going to the archive and choosing a tag (when you hover over the post) or a quick example is this demo post tag.

Sidebar: Simple minimal design, content is replicated from the front page.
